IF I DIDN'T HAVE A DOG OR CAT

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.

My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.

All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.

When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel.

When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without wading
through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.

I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, with out
taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would
    need to get comfortable.

I would have money, and no guilt to go on a real vacation.
I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I put
their yet unborn grandkids through college.

The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down,
come, no, stay, and leave it ALONE.
My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers.

I would not talk 'baby talk'. 'Eat your din din'. 'Yummy yummy for
    the tummy'...
My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere.

My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash.

I would no longer have to spell the words B-A-L-L,, W-A-L-K,,
    T-R-E-A-T,, O-U-T,, G-O,, R-I-D-E,, C-O-O-K-I-E

I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.

I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat
    ties them down too much.

I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading 'mud' season.

I would not have to answer the question 'Why do you have so many
animals?' from people who will never have the joy in their lives of
knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an
angel as they will ever get.

How EMPTY my life would be

in response to Elaine of TSA...   Oh Sunny, if he wasn't feed by 5AM or 7Am he was hunting little and big birds. Then he would eat and go out till the move here to apartment to hunt and sleep more. And in the afternoon he would find a lizard to play with more or less till I caught it and let it lose elsewhere. Then he run to the door pawing to get out to find it. I agree with the vet, the cat's bite is worse than a dogs. I love cats and this gives a lot of information for them. And when to let them prowl an not to prowl.

We had to leave our little "Ruby" home as she is crippled in the hind quarters, ruby is our little fawn pug and she stayed overnight with the neighbors so we could go to our daughters house for Christmas, she is 13 years old and probably won't be with us much longer so it was hard to leave her. We've been home for an hour or so and she won't let me out of her sight, I do so love dogs and I appreciate you sharing your babies with us, thankyou so much. sincerely Sheila

        Hi Elaine of TSA
Had to read this again the poem and remind me of funny times with Sunny. I saw another Sunny on line and other tabbies like him. Maybe if I get a cat again it will be a female and I hope it will be okay..I came across an old piece about diets for cats with kidney disease and which cat food was high in protein etc. and even make your own cat food..It was interesting and saved it in my email.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend..

Not to detract from Gandhi but I think the way one's country people are treated too. But many countriies animals are considered just that and don't have souls but are pets, guard dogs and like you and many here on this site view our pets as our children too. love you Elaine of TSA

in response to Elaine of TSA...   You are welcome. How funny the cat rules over them. I use to have a female white cat, female St. Bernard and female mix of Lab, German Shepard but she had Terrier in her so she never got as big as a Lab. The two dogs when I let the indoor cat out would make sure the cat wouldn't try to escape. They loved each other and it took once for the St. Bernard to know the cat was not to be roughed with. After that they all got along beautifully together.

        Hello Elaine of TSA

I love the poem and how true it is about my pet rushing to the door when someone is there as if it is for him first. And all the other things like eat your dinner and coaxing. If my hands don't touch his food he won't eat it..

And so many other similarities especially with the cat hair all over the place and now on my bed too. My cat is more clingy to me since his illness especially  at night than during the day when I get tired from being on my leg and do lay down or have a bad day, his little body comes to cuddle up next to me laying his head on my thin arm just wanting to be petted and loved. It is something else and I so wish I had the means to get another cat for him to play with..

I love the pictures of your animals as they are precious and thanks to postive thoughts for seeing this as I was working and hadn't seen it till now.

Much love and have a wonderful week
